Halfway up 2nd field, at the barn, bear off to the top left corner and over the stile in the corner. Go right up the banking to the stile in the middle of the wall at the top, then up the hill veering left around boggy Black Syke. Follow the wall with Standard Crag at the top of the hill on the right, to the stile in the corner. This is a good spot for a break, and for views of Airedale. From here go down the hill parallel to the wall on the left, to the stile in the wall corner, continue down the hill to a wall facing you, turn to right and go through the gate into the Ancient Roman Road. Go to the right, up the hill until you see a large fir plantation on left, and in the lay-bye on right go through a gate. Turn to the left for 300 yards, and then turn right over a sleeper bridge in the valley bottom. Cross the bridge and bear left up the hill to a gate at top left of the field. Turn right through the gate, down the field with the fence on the left, over the stile at the bottom, heading to a gate at the corner of the fir plantation. Go on the road, through a further gate, and through a small gate in the wall opposite, into the paddock. Cross the paddock and through a gate in the left corner. Go right and go behind Snow Hill Farm down the fields to the wall stile, then straight down the next field through the gate and down the track into Ridge Lane. Go down and left into Schoolmaster Place Farm then follow as for Walk No.8. back to Silsden. Should you be tired at the Roman Road you can turn left at “Jenny Gill” and go down into Skipton, and get a train or bus home!
