WALK No.3. 4¾ MILES. ALLOW 4 HOURS.
MODERATE TO HARD! “UP THE NICK”, NORTH END, SLADE AND HANG GOOSE.
Start at Wesley Street Car Park, Silsden. Go up to top of the car park, into Banklands Lane, then go up Hawber Cote Drive. At the top go over the stile, up the fields at the top, go left over the stile and up the “ginnel” (walled path) over the stile at the top, then go along the track to the left passing Haw Farm. Cross the road, go up the drive past High Swatha-Farm, follow the way marks, turn right then left over a stile, down the fields through another stile. Go up the field to the stile in the top right corner, then go left over two further stiles to North End Farm, through two stiles in front of you, then through the gate on the right. Here you go left up the fields and stiles to Lightbank Lane. Get your breath back, then go left to the stile on the right and go up The Nab. At the top take in the superb views (making the climb worthwhile). Go forward along the wall side until a stile on right takes you up Wingate Nick! At the top, again take in the views, this time of Wharfedale. Follow the path to left to a cleft on left (Millstone Lumps on map) go down off moor top to a gate in the wall, over a field then go to the left of Slade, over the wall stile, then go to the left through the stile to the left and then over three stiles in line opposite Hang Goose Farm go over the stile then go left over a further stile, cross the road, go over the stile, down the field to the Caravan Site. Go straight forward on the path, at the end, go through the gate in the corner cross the path over the stile then go left down the wall side back to High Swartha Farm then back to Silsden the way you came!
