Farewell PJ -We Love You and Will Miss You💕🌸🐈‍

Yesterday I had a going away party for PJ. We enjoyed some food and did a fun cat craft. She will be going home with her family sometime next week and web will truly miss her.

(Everyone in the cat community was invited in Events section)

We made paper crafts of a PJ cat and put a picture of the kittys in middle of her belly. It was somthing fun and joyful to do here is how they turned out.

My Mom saying goodbye. She said She is just a lovely cat.

How it all started...PJ came to us in October, when her parents home was struck by lightening and then caught fire. All the animals were safe but the family lost their home and PJ was pregnant and about to deliver a litter of kittens at any moment. My cousin Pam knew the family and thought maybe I could help. She was right! As soon as she told me the story I got a feeling from the Holy Spirit that made me realize I could assist. I knew it would include watching the kittens be born (I had never seen that before) and going through that experience of having little ones in the house and I felt a confident peace about it. Even though I never met PJ and didnt know what she would be like - I said Yes! Shortly after she was dropped off at my house and we put her in one of my kitty condos so she would be comfortable. Thats when I started to bond with her.

Big big belly

What’s She Like? She is certainly the sweetest and most personal cat I think Ive ever known. I know That seems like it could be said for many cats but she is truly special. Everyone likes PJ, everyone thats met her at my house and even at her vets hospital. She is friendly, she blurps and chirps when she see’s you and says hi, she stretches all out when she walks, scratches the floor and chirps. Even when she is on window hammock behind a curtain she knows you’re  there and chirps to let you know Im here if youd like to pet me!

Picking her up she will stretch her paws very far in front of her and then climb over your shoulder with arms stretched out purring.

She is tiny and soft and gentle and just wants to be loved. I only saw her deep sleeping twice once when her babies were nursing and they all fell asleep together and another time after they were weaned and with their new homes - PJ slept so deep she was twitching her paws on window hammock. Other than that she wants to be awake and not miss anything.

When she first arrived I told her “I promise to take care of you and help you with the babies” she and I had a few weeks to get to know each other as her belly grew and grew. Once day she was so wide andnI could feel all the kittens moving and Dustin and I wondered how much longer could she possibly go before giving birth to them. And then on Sunday November 14th at 7:30 her contractions started. I set up a variety of labor boxes around the room and she picked a wide and long comfy box in my cat condo.

We watched with amazement as the first baby was born -Tabitha (now Doja) was very strong amd eager to nurse. Then Beanie (now niko), then Earl Gray ( now Blue) then Stripe (now Lucy) and finally Hefty (now Mittens)! Wow what a wonderul little group of beautiful kittys. I was so relieved and PJ was the most attentive and amazing mother. She knew just what to do for all these little munchins. I weighed them multiple times a day and watched videos from The Kitten Lady. It was amazing to see them develop like clockwork. Our favorite thing was to watch them play and play and then all suddenly fall asleep together.

So many people were instrumental in helping PJ and her kittens. I want to thank Pam Weber my cousin for asking me if I could help PJ’s situation and for also providing cat supplies like litter and kitten food a couple of times which helped me immensely! My friend Lori Harvey is a wonderful veterinarian and she assisted above and beyond with PJ and her little kitten with the backwards leg. Lori came over within days of their birth to asses the leg and she even tried wrapping it with gauze and another effort was made to make little casts.

Lori was also helpful with quick texts replied when I wasnt sure if his leg was swelling up. You can find her at South Coastal Animal Hospital in Abington Massachusetts. I would also like to thank all the adopting families. Tammy Swift visited every week to get to know her mittens, Robin Kelley visited and took time to really get to know the cats she adopted which made for a smooth transition, and Laurie Wagner visited a couple times as well. I believe this made for the best and most caring way to transition the kittens to their new homes after leaving PJ when they were weaned and I am so grateful. I continue to get text updates on how nice these cats are and how loved they are - and that blesses my heart more than you can imagine.

Next week PJ will get picked up and go to live with her family. They are very excited to see her. This has been a wonderful experience and its been my pleasure to to have said yes that day, I feel like I was blessed by knowing her. Dustin and I wish her and her family well, and we hope to get updates as time goes on,
